Mandi, April 15
Jal Shakti Minister Mahender Singh Thakur presided over the district-level Himachal Day function organised here today and unfurled the national flag at the historic Seri Manch.
He took the salute of the march past presented by contingents of police, Home Guard and NCC cadets.
On the occasion of Himachal Day, the Jal Shakti Minister congratulated people of Mandi and saluted all great personalities who gave recognition to Himachal Pradesh. He said Himachal had created new paradigms of progress in its development journey of 75 years. “Himachal has become a perfect example of all-round development due to everyone’s contribution,” said the minister.
At the function, the minister presented certificates to trainers and trainee youth and women teaching traditional arts, crafts and craftsmanship under the Mukhyamantri Gram Kaushal Yojana. He felicitated schoolchildren who presented cultural programmes at the function and the participants of theatrical parties and parade.
Earlier, the minister paid tribute to martyrs by offering flowers at the martyrs’ memorial in Sankan garden and laid a wreath at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Chowk.
He said the state government was committed for the welfare of common people and several welfare schemes were launched by the government to benefit the people. He said under the leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Himachal was moving on development path.
